Facilities

The aerial photograph below shows the sports club buildings including the four tennis courts, the bowling green and parts of the cricket pitch.  The photograph was taken before we had our new artificial grass courts installed.

The domed part of the building houses the main hall and a theatre. The flat roofed part of the building houses the main bar, the Ariel Lounge, an annexe to the main hall, the snooker room, the table tennis room, a television lounge, the restaurant, changing facilities and the offices.

The excellent changing facilities include hot showers which can bring welcome refreshment after a hard match!

The main bar is for the use of members and their guests and serves a wide variety of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. On match nights, the bar is usually full of tennis players enjoying a drink together with the visiting teams.

The tennis club currently has four, well maintained artificial grass tennis courts, which are at the Sports Club grounds and are available for use all year round. An application has recently been made to the local planning authority to install floodlights so that the courts can be better utilised during the winter months.

During periods of especially poor weather, many members arrange to play at the Birchwood Leisure and Tennis Centre which is less than 10 minutes away by car and where courts can usually be booked easily.
